What are sats cables used for?

just wondering what this port is for i had a comp custom made and it was one of the recommended items so i got it however im am not a computer geek so i have no idea what it it for

I think you mean SATA cables.
Well, they're the new, faster, easier type of cables used to connect Hard Discs or Optical Drives to the Mobo on any PC. In short, they're a step ahead or more advanced than the earlier 30 odd connector cables (IDE) we used to use in old PCs.
