What are Some Causes For Refresh/Reset to be in Error?

I'm not as familiar with Windows 8 as I really should be so this is the first time I've actually used this particular function. Long story short, the computer is acting up. It's lagging and freezing programs inside of safe mode and I just decided to go ahead and do a Refresh/Reset. Problem is, it says there was some sort of error but gave no details.

So I was just curious where I could find said log (if there is one) or failing that, what are some causes for the Refresh/Reset failing?

It's a PC is freezing randomly, it could be that one or more components is failing. Or it could be one or more components are overheating due to dust built-up or poor insulation. If it's the latter, the computer usually freezes after booting up for a while.

Check windows event viewer for errors. Search for it within windows and open it
