Since the architecture of Windows 8 has just a minor difference than that of Windows 7, it is unlikely that the games that easily run on Windows 7 would fail to execute on Windows 8. Considering this, the executable files of the incompatible games can be executed in the environments of earlier versions of Windows, i.e. Windows 7 using compatibility mode.

How to Run an Application in Compatibility Mode?
In order to run any application, including the games, in compatibility mode, step-by-step instructions given below must be followed:
- ■Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator or standard user account on which the application is to be run in compatibility mode.
■Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop window.
■Once on the desktop screen, click File Explorer icon from the taskbar.
■From Libraries window, navigate and locate the executable file (.exe) of the application or game that is to be run in compatibility mode.
■Once located, right-click the executable file. Alternatively shortcut icon of the application can also be right-clicked to run the application in compatibility mode.
■From the context menu that appears, click Properties.
■On the opened properties box, go to Compatibility tab.
■On the selected tab, under Compatibility mode section, check Run this program in compatibility mode for checkbox.
■From the enabled drop-down list, choose Windows 7 to run the application in the compatibility mode of selected operating system.
■Once done, click OK to save the modified settings.
■Close the opened window and restart the application or game.
