thinking of buying a macbook for the hardware and display. However is there a disconnect between the hardware and software that would stop windows 7 from running/networking flawlessly and easily...being able to run a virtual machine every now and then?
You have to use apples own drivers, which are more outdated than the windows drivers. As far as i know, the only drivers you can install are those apple provides.
Windows 7 drivers are not the best so it wont be a flawless experience. If you will only occasionally use windows then it is ok but not recommended for full use.

Can you be more specific? What drivers won't Windows find, and which will windows replace with generic that would hurt the ability to operate the Mac? These seem like considerations for a desktop
