Hey guys. My laptop's HDD gave up and I'm looking to get an SSHD. My upper limit is $55-60 (Amazon price) so a true SSD is not really an option since I need more than 128 GB of storage. I barely even found out how an SSHD works today, so I have a couple questions and was wondering what the best one available is.

From what I understand, 8GB of flash storage cut it a bit short. 7200rpm is obviously preferred over 5400rpm but is there really a difference in performance? I've been told that a 7200RPM drive in a laptop is more prone to failing due to the bumps that a laptop goes through.

After lurking around and reading reviews from several different sites, I've found a couple of options.

Toshiba 500 GB 2.5" Internal Hybrid Hard Drive - 8 GB SSD Cache Capacity MQ02ABF050H

[Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB 2.5 Inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST95005620AS]

(Old Model) Seagate 500GB Gaming SSHD SATA 8GB NAND SATA 6Gb/s 2.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST500LM000)

I also found this one in 'Used, Like New' condition for $40.

I think (?) that the Seagate Gaming SSHD has the best performance according to reviews, but it's only 8GB flash and 5400RPM.

Does anybody know any other good SSHD options in this price range?

Solution
At that price point, just get a regular 7200RPM drive.
No, they are not more fail prone than a 5400RPM drive.

And avoid a "used" drive. Don't go there.
