What are the best Intel CPU's

I'm hoping to by a new laptop.

I have been running a Dell Vostro 1720 with a Intel Core 2 Duo P7570 for the past 6 years.

Most of the laptops in my price range have Intel Atom, Celeron or Pentium CPU's.

Would any pf these be an upgrade from my old core duo?

What is the hierachy of Intel CPU's?

Or is there any AMD's I should be looking out for?

No. Your Core 2 Duo is likely outperforming your laptops... Use the chart in the link below for reference. If you aren't moving more than two levels, then don't expect to see much in the way of increased performance.

Hello... Most modern laptops use a "Mobile" version of CPU's... There are i5 and i7 intel versions that are Really Great Performers right now...
