I know that lowering the backlight setting helps extending the life of your TV. But how about Contrast and Brightness? Which one wears off the LEDs faster? Do they both make the lights "work harder"?

I get the same picture using these two options:
  1. More brightness and less contrast
  2. More contrast and less brightness
But which option is better to make my LCD last longer?

Thanks

Use calibration techniques. That will change both brightness and contrast. If you have a bright room, you will probably be disappointed in the picture of a calibrated TV.
Bot to your question, there isn't an answer, IMO. The variation in the design and build quality of TV sets is so great that what changes one set may have no impact on another model.

Thanks for your answer.

I am calibrating with a THX disc. I had heard that both brightness and contrast can wear the lights off, but if brightness is black, and contrast is white, does that mean that contrast is basically the level of power running through the lights?

P.S.: This is an old LG LN5400.
