I purchased an ECS A990FXM-A (1.0) motherboard around a year ago. Recently the computer was stolen, and I'm building another one. To be quite honest, I'm considering building the exact same PC ~ same exact components.

However, shortly after I had purchased the original motherboard from Anandtech I noticed that there were actually 3 different versions of the motherboard - the ECS A990FXM-A (1.0), ECS A990FXM-A (1.1), and A990FXM-A Deluxe (V1.0).

So, my question is what are the real differences between the 3?

From the images I've seen the big chunk of metal on the board I had appears to have gotten replaced by a similarly sized heatsink ~

Other than that, I really can't figure out the differences. The ECS website doesn't really get into the details very well and I'm hoping someone would know what warranted 3 variants of the same board.

The Deluxe board has two E-Sata ports on the rear and a few other changes compared to the vanilla A990FXM-A which has to do with the added Marvell 9128 Controller listed in the specifications on their site. As far as any other changes there isn't to many. But basically it is a premium version of the A990FXM-A as depicted by the name.

The V1.1 is a minor revision. Usually these are made to support new hardware or improve on the original design. In this case all I can say is that the V1.1 is using a newer BIOS compared to the V1.0. Other then that they may have made changes to capacitors, VRM's, etc on the motherboard.
