depends on what form factor you want to use. If you want the fastest, bleeding edge SSD tech, look for PCIe SSDs. If you are talking about conventional SSDs, then SATA III. When it comes to SATA III drives, the Samsung 840 or 850 Pro models with capacities of 250 GB or higher are probably the fastest or one of the fastest out and not many come close to the Pro's write speeds. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147360&cm_re=850_pro-_-20-147-360-_-Product

On a side note, it appears that your Asrock Z97 has a M.2 slot. This a different form factor than SATA III but uses the same chips and controller and is thus going to run at about the same speed as a SATA III drive. These M.2 slots, though have a much higher potential than SATA III (6 Gb/s) since they are rated for as much as 10 Gb/s. The only problem is that Samsung's current M.2 drives are exactly the same as their SATA III drives with different form factor and connectors. You'll probably have to wait another generation before an M.2 drive comes close to saturating their theoretical limits. This EVO is coming out in a couple days if you are interesed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147398&cm_re=850_EVO-_-20-147-398-_-Product

Then there are the PCIe drives such as this OCZ that runs off a PCI-Express 2.0 x8 slot and can deliver close to twice the read and write speeds of the fastest SATA III drives but cost about 4x as much.

Here is a list on Toms of the top 2.5 inch form factor SSDs out at the moment. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-recommendation-benchmark,3269.html#p6

If you want the fastest, and are willing to spend the money, then get the Samsung XP941 SSD. This is an M.2 drive that will be faster than SATA drives.

If you want a SATA III drive, which is cheaper and a little slower, I would get the Samsung 850 Pro. It's one of the fastest SATA III drives you can get and comes with a 10-year warranty.

What is the spec to know how fast it is
