I have 6300 core 2 and it Idles around 40C with stock fan in an open case without ventilation atm, waiting for a case to arrive. I tried mildly OCing it to 2.33 and it was 46c or so idle... is that within specs? Should I be alarmed? Oh my ram is 5300 667 Patriot 2gb 44412. When I oc'ed cpu, it was 833mhz with sets set 55515, cpuz read spd as 444 something, is that good? Ram was hot to the touch in that state, but I could hold my hand on it without problems.

I set cpu back to 1.86 untill I get new case and OC'd ram to 44412 800mhz. It runs a bit cooler now. No problems so far.

My mobo is DS3
Vid Card eVGA 7900GS KO
What I want to know.
1. Safe, ideal, within specs temps I should strive for stock cooling, at least for now and what I will get with a bought cooling.

2. Mild advice on OC'ing would be welcome :) What is the stable max OC I should expect with stock cooling on 6300? Anyoen with experiences doing this? I will have a good case soon.

My 3d mark06(futuremark) score was 4500, went by 250 points with 2.33 is that reasonable and is the 3d mark decent?

My system FSB:DRAM ratio is 2:3 < (this value, confused)
Original is 44412 667 5300
I OC'd memory to 2.1v and set values to 44412
Memory freq 400mhz 44412 atm. Should I strive for equal ratio? or it doesnt matter? I don't quit e understand the difference atm.

Core speed 1866
Multiplier x7.0
Bus speed 267.7
Rated FSB 1066.7

Just tried some more OCing.. does this look good.. I uploaded cpuz.htm

http://home.nyc.rr.com/gaavdono/cpuz.htm

Tell me if I did anything wrong and if I should correct it. My temp is 46c idle. 59-61 with 2 instances of Prime 95 loaded... that is good?

Did I do the right thing with the ram? or shoudl I lower my timings to 44412... it was stable prior with those.

You should be ok as long as you keep temps below about 60 celcius.Above that you start running into real issues.Goodluck.

Does this look right? I followed the Wusy's guide. Should I lower my ram timings to 44412? or act of OCing does lower them automatically like you see in that screenshot, but I might be misinterpreting those sets.

I believe cpu-z still needs to be upgraded to ddr2.They may already have a version out,but I'm not sure so go to their site and check it out.Goodluck.

Its not that good of temps, im 31@ Idle, and 37@ Load, with a case. But that is before I organized my cables, im probably below 30@ Idle now. Stock cooling/grease.

Ideally you want you temps as low as possible. If you can keep it room temp then you are laughing. Bear in mind that you temps will rise by 6 or 7 degrees during summer months, so be careful.
