What are the roles of the components at the bottom of the CPU?

As you can see on the IMAGE some of the componets is damaged but the CPU works perfectly. So, what are the roles of the components at the bottom of the CPU? Thank You!

I believe those would be capacitors. They are part of the process of getting power to the CPU.

Its possible that those specific ones serve non essential purposes, are redundant, or are nonfunctional to begin with. Maybe that damage will affect overclocking potential, or lifespan, but if it works i wouldnt worry about it.
