What are the two "ss" usb ports in front of my cooler master 690 2 advanced

In the front area of my cabinet, I have got two usb ports of blue color alongside two usb 2.0 ports.
These ports are labelled as "ss". But I haven't been able to connect anything to these, even my usb 3.0 external hdd and my pen drive. Every port else works fine. Please tell me what are these ports for .

SS stands for super speed, and is how usb3 ports are labeled. If they don't work the most likely reason is that the front usb connector is not attached to the motherboard header

They usually indicate a USB 3.0 port. As I have seen pictures of this case they would indicate them. I hope this helps at least a little bit.
