what are these weird screen effects??

i bought a higher end 1080p 144hz monitor a few months ago that is msi. recently i have been noticing effects on the new monitor that are not on the second monitor i have. the effects are only in some games. like particles being very visible and weird (ghosting) like effects. i have tried to turn down the refresh rate to 60hz and other setting and it just doesn't seem to make any difference.

The Minecraft one looks like a 3D effect. Doe your monitor support 3D technology? If yes then it could be possible that you have turned it on.
