Both of my monitors are going bad around the same time here. Should I get one very wide monitor? What are those good for? Because from the looks of them, I don't think I'm going to like it.

Also, are there any good two-monitor stands? In case you don't talk me into one big wide one.

Thanks

Personally i don't see the appeal and think they are not that good for gaming and are over hyped. Imo you just cant bet a 16:10 30-40" monitor. Maybe a little curve and that is it.
The problem with the extra sides is our eyes simply cant take all that in, we can only focus on a rather small patch in the center and the sides are just out of focus. You literally have to move your head to see those areas, and they are distorted somewhat in games like shooters. I think they work ok for some games but many others not.
I hate their small height, its too small for me.

Another issue is they can ruin the acoustics/imaging of monitors on a desk.

For productivity imo you cant beat a 30" center screen with two 21" in portrait. Its been the gold standard for a long time.

Are you suggesting *three* monitors?

Yeah, you're concerns are a good articulation of what I'm worried about. I feel like my eyes will be constantly looking from side to side and all over. Unable to focus.

Far better immersion in simulation games. E.g Samsung Odyssey Neo G9. Only thing that is more immersive than that, is VR headset.

Thanks. Just the type of info I was looking for.

I wouldn't mind getting into simulation games, but mostly I play games over Zoom on one monitor and keep score for everyone in the other. I was thinking maybe Zoomon the left and score spreadsheet on the right. But you might have accidentally talked me out of that.

But yeah, that's a cool monitor in the video!

On the other hand, if I get two monitors I need some kind of double stand or something.

I have a 34" ultra wide with a 27" monitor on each side (3 monitors total). I use mine for work, but I can use the ultrawide with split screen to act as 2 monitors at once if I want (like 4 monitors total). Great for work, I do not play games, so there is that.
