What brand modem is in the 2400?

The modem that's in my 2400 is Conexant D850 56K v.9x DFVc. The
chipset reads Conexant but I don't know if that's the brand name of
the modem or not.
Reason I'm asking I want to get another one of these modems for my PC.
The speed at which it connects is 44,0 and higher on the new 2400. And
that's the highest I've ever gotten at my house.

The main thing is the modem chipset. I doubt that Conexant manufactures modems,
but maybe they do. The modem is made for Dell (Duh!), but can also probably be
found in other computers and in retail stores. Identify the EXACT chip on the
modem and shop accordingly. If Dell would sell you one, the price would likely
be pretty outrageous... Ben Myers

Be sure to test that reported connect speed with an actual download from
a fast site. Modems commonly report connection speeds that in reality
are often renegotiated to some working speed, invisible to the user
except by querying the modem or doing a test. With today's technology,
it is likely that the speed you see in practice is the only speed you
can get since it is the line quality, not the modem, that determines the
top speed.

I don't think there is a brand name for the modem. Dell don't even
know. LOL!
