What brand psu for GTX260/HD5770

Here are the official ATI power supply requirements for the ATI Radeon HD 5770 and 5750 video cards:

450 Watt or greater power supply with one 75 watt, 6-pin PCI Express® power connector recommended

600 Watt or greater power supply with two 75 watt, 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode

The recommendations are for an entire pc system.

Corsair and Seasonic are two brands that have a reputation for high quality power supplies that consistently earn high marks in technical reviews. They are reliable, stable, and come with a 5 year warranty. Some of the newer models come with a 7 year warranty.

The 450VX and EA500 actually have more 12v power than the BP550.

Personally, I'd go with the Corsair.

and how about the OCZ modXstream?
would that one be good enough?, i dont want to cfire/sli.
And Modulair what about that?

"I'm sorry, but CEC isn't the first company that comes to mind when one says "industrial class performance" like the box did. Still, CEC isn't too bad a brand."

CEC are the caps used in the MXS, try and guess where that quote comes from.

Yep, according to that post. There was another review ( not going looking for it now ) that claimed them to be from a German manufacturer.
Doesn't take away from the fact that as far as "budget" power supplies go the MSX is a pretty good deal.

All you've done is provide a link to TREC, give us one that says for certain that they are in fact what is used.
Don't know about Euro's but the MXS 500 is priced $20 lower than the Corsair 450 here in the States, making it a pretty good deal.

OW said CECs were good enough, and now that I look at the pictures again, the secondaries on the MXS are also Trec not CEC (Gabe is wrong). The only comment i can find from OW regarding Trec is this:

Capacitor choice on this unit is rather unflattering, in my opinion. We have a couple Teapos, which aren't bad, but most of the secondary caps are TRec. Come on here... Teapo wasn't cheap enough? This is a 1kW power supply... I was expecting some better parts inside it than this.
Feel free to go over there and ask him if he thinks the MXS is a good product.

Yes, I know Gabe at hardwaresecrets gave it an award. I have no idea why other than the price at the time ($40) but build quality clearly doesn't factor into that decision.

OCZ ModXStream Pro 500 W can really deliver its labeled power, however during test five(full load) it shut down twice. Interesting enough this was exactly the same behavior we’ve seen with the 600 W model.
Wow, that's great. :sarcastic:

the corsairs are +-20 euro's more(27 dollars)
what would be my power consumption if i'l take an GTX260(for FSX) if i can find a new one?
AMD Phenom II X4 965 C3 (125W) @3.4/3.6
Kingston Hyper X @ 5-5-5-18
Asus M4A785-M
some GTX260
I don't know but somehow im a little attracted to the OCZ, otherwise is the Fatal1ty better?

the GTX was 20 euros cheaper here(+-27 USD), now all have been sold out and will not come back!
