Simple as possible to try and explain this.

The cable i have had a 6+2 pin on one end of the cable and the other end has ONLY SIX wires going into a 8 pin psu end.

Is that correct that the psu end has 2/8 terminals with no physical wire in it?

I have a msi gaming x trio 1080ti, so i will run two sets of these cables to power it.
But i was just checking that it’s normal to have 2/8 wires of the psu plug end not populated???

Thanks in advance!

Mention the make and model of your PSU. If your 6+2 pin PCI-E is a breakaway type like this:

then that goes to the GPU side.

I would like you to hold off until you've mentioned the PSU's make and model and if possible that you've included an image of the connectors/wires to avoid confusion.

Moved thread from Components to Systems.

Im using seasonic Prime gold psu and Bit Fenix alchemy 2.0 SSC cable kit that i made sure works with my psu.

I have 2 sets of the shown cables, that came with the kit. so was going to use both sets to my gpu.
