What cable should I use for a 2nd 144 Hz monitor?

I bought two 1080p 144Hz monitors, but my GPU only has one DVI-D. I heard that the other three video ports on my GPU (DVI-I, HDMI, and DisplayPort) aren't capable of 144Hz because they are capped at 60Hz. Is this true? What cable should I use for my second monitor?

It does depend on what version of the connector you have for HDMI, but most likely this is the case:

DisplayPort and DVI-D will work for 144hz
DVI-I and HDMI won't.

I use a 144hz monitor myself and Displayport is the one I prefer. Smaller connector and it carries audio if your monitor has speakers. Displayport is like a successor to DVI, improving on it in just about every way.
