I’m getting a new asus gaming monitor the model is ASUS 24" FHD 144Hz 1ms GTG TN LED Gaming Monitor (VG248QZ). I plan on using this for gaming on my Xbox One X and I want to be able to run 1080p 120hz I’m guessing since it has a HDMI 1.4 port it can’t run 1080p 120hz through HDMI.

Would I need a HDMI to DisplayPort adapter? Or DisplayPort to HDMI?I can’t seem to find any HDMI to DisplayPort cables...

Would something like this work?

AmazonBasics DisplayPort to HDMI Display Cable - 6 Feet https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B015OW3M1W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hoxcEbAVWJSWF

Using an adapter won't make the actual port run any better, the limit is the slowest thing in the chain. You are not really changing anything with adapters just basically changing the shape of the connection. If the port on either the XBOX or the monitor won't support a certain spec, changing the cable type won't do anything to fix it.
