Hi guys, I recently acquired a MacBook pro 17' mid year model. It had an account on it from the old lady that used it prior, so I reset it, cleared the disks and tried to reinstall Mac osx onto it. Low and behold it didn't work.

4 hours later tech support says that they can't help me because my device is obselete, which they should have done from the beginning instead of sending me through a bunch of loop holes. They make it impossible to set up without an extra device which I don't have (in terms of Apple devices).

I got to a certain point where a pop-up kept appearing and it would say your apple ID isn't connected to the app store. This was frustrating because I had a friend with an iPhone connect it and agree to tos and download an app or whatever the tech support told me and it still did not work.

Then I tried using terminal to fix any problems. I came across something odd, there are about 14 different disk partitions so I figured that's the problem but I don't know which verb command to use with diskpart to delete them.

My last resort is going to be downloading Mac OS el căpitan on a flash drive and boot through there. Someone who knows macs please help me because I really want this Mac to work. Thanks in advanced guys I really appreciate it.

did you get your problem fixed?

What is the latest version of macOS that your 'puter can officially use? (officially use vs really uses are different, but to start with I think you have to start with an official).

I'm going to assume it is High Sierra. macOS 10.13.x

Since your 'puter can't do squat, you need help from a friend with a similar working box, or delve into the weird world of eBay where. right or wrong, you can buy an installation of HS for $20 or sometimes less.

If your box could boot to something, you could probably download it for free. But that not being the case...

Did you not get the system disc when you bought it? Or maybe you could get another one via Craigs List or even eBay?

I don't have any more suggestions...

I don't have any more suggestions that I've posted above. Good Luck to you!
