what can i expect from hd 4000 graphics

i'm working on a build tomorrow but don't have enough money for the graphics card i want so i plan on adding that later

i don't expect to play anything on high or even medium settings but i'm coming from using an hp g62 laptop with pitiful gaming capacity

will this match or even slightly increase what i am used to?

what can i expect from the integrated graphics of the i5-3570k?

Depends on the game.
Fast action shooters may not play all that well.
But a more static game like civ4 will be fine.
HD4000 is good enough to play HD movies. It is perhaps the equivalent of a $50 discrete graphics card.
I think deferring on the graphics card is often a good idea. It lets you know a bit better what you need. But... do buy a sufficiently strong power supply up front. 600W can run just about anything.

i got a 750w because i will most likely sli in the future so i'm prepared

750w is fine, but you probably paid too much.
600w would support a GTX780.
But would not support sli gtx 770.
It is so hard to figure out what we might need that I usually suggest planning on one good card so long as you will be gaming on one monitor.
If your sli plans are more than 6 months out, they will probably change. And... do not count on buying a second card for sli cheaper down the road, historically that does not work out.

Gma 4500m can play hd, it's not a big deal. It's not clear what your current laptop has, as there are versions with a pentium t4500 (gma 4500m) and versions with the i3 330m (hd graphics) which is a quite the performance difference. The hd 4000 will be double the performance of what you have now (or more if you have the t4500). That sounds like a lot but those are quite weak so double isn't much. But saying the hd 4000 is equivalent to a $50 card is quite the exaggeration. A 6570 is $40, you can get a 6670 for $50 but most are 60-70. But even a 6570 is double the performance of a hd 4000.

either way this computer is going to run a lot smoother than this piece of shit laptop

Well Star craft 2 on low would go from 38FPS to 100FPS.
