Just setup a new gaming pc with a i7 6700k and gigabyte z170x gaming 5... and I'm trying to figure out the best way to monitor stuff on my PC.

I've seen lots of people reference to their computer performance (more specifically PC temperatures), but what software are they using? I know how to check it in the BIOS, but at that point the computer is idling.

Also let me know if there are any other tools you can think of that might be helpful. I'm a noob so I don't even know what I should be watching.. But for now I know I should probably look closely at the heating.

Here is a great Tool for Testing

Prime95

CPU-Z

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

use this to check on the CPU mostly used by overclockers you can see if the system boosts the CPU with this software

GPU-Z

https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2571/techpowerup-gpu-z-v0-8-6/

Used to check on your video Card and if you Overclock it at all

If you are using Windows 10 The Resouce Monitor can be very useful These should help.
