Hello everyone,
I'm picking up some parts from a buddy tonight and looking for a 2nd opinion on what card is better for gaming.

he has 4 cards total...However, I only want one card even though the power supply would handle two. I'm just tight on cash right now...

I'll be running the i5-4690k processor and this power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159132

these are the cards he has...

(2) XFX R9 280X (Double Dissipation - 3GB DDR5, Dual Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, Dual DVI, 90MM Fan, Unlocked Voltage) - Model # R9-280X-TD, Part # R9-280X-TDFD

or he has two....

(2) PowerColor TurboDuo R9 280X (3Gb DDR5, AMD Eyefinity, 4K Display support, DirectX 11.2, PCI Express 3.0) - AXR9 280X 3GBD5-T2DHE/OC

what card (as a single GPU build for gaming) would you pick?

Both cards have same peformance but XFX is more popular brand and so for me more relaible.I see for XFX it says "unlocked voltage" so you can overvolt/undervolt.Not sure does powercolor has thst function.

Get the XFX double dissipation one . It has two fans it should run cooler . So you`ll have more room for OC.
If you want to do the 4k gaming then Power colour . but i doubt that it will run games at playable FPS on 4k.

Personally, I'd go with the PowerColor. It'll most likely provide better cooling, and its clock rate is slightly higher. It is also smaller than the XFX card. Essentially, they're the exact same card though. Just slight variations. Which is where I think PowerColor beats XFX in this case.

They both actually have 4k resolution. And both the XFX and PowerColor cards have two fans. However, the PowerColor card has a more open design, as opposed to the boxy look of the XFX. XFX and PowerColor are both piece of crap Graphics Card manufacturers for gaming. XFX has a really cruddy design (only one fan, cheap plastic case around perimeter of fans that traps heat in, etc.) about 75% to 90% of the time. PowerColor isn't much better, but atleast with the R9 280X, they used a sleeker, more open design that in my honest opinion provides better chances for heat to escape the heat sink other than through the fans. You can actually see the copper pipes that carry the heat to the fan more directly with the PowerColor, and that's good to see that!

Also, here is a link comparing the two. PowerColor is slightly better based on benchmarks:

how much of a improvement would it be to run two XFX cards? I can get a little cheaper price on the XFX cards..,Take a look at the link....
What would running two cards do for me? and what board then (refer to other link)

Thanks all....

Ok thanks....Like stated above anything will be better than the computer I'm on now Q35 chipset graphics just isn't cutting it lol 😀
