Question What causes your display to stretch?

I turned on my PC when I got home from work and the entire screen was stretched. Resolution settings were correct, to include scaling. Drivers were up to date. But the only thing that fixed it was switching my display cable from Port 1 to Port 2 on my monitor. I'm afraid of switching it back just in case it will screw up again. So, what would be the cause and solution? (Outside of simply switching display ports)

Specs:
Monitor - Samsung G7 32"
Ryzen 5 5600
Sapphire Radeon 6800 xt
32gb RAM
Samsung m.2 980 evo 1tb
1000w power supply

I appreciate any help on the subject.

Yes to all of your questions. So I tried the power adapter on and off, still had the issue. (Though I can note that I did not wait a specific amount of time before plugging it back in) I also tried plugging the display cable to another port on my gfx card. The only thing that worked was switching the cable on the monitor itself from port 1 to port 2, waiting for a few minutes as it had some weird seizures while I sat there - staring, sweating at potentially $1K lost - but then it turned on and it's normal now.

Have you heard of any other fixes besides unplug, and replug, or my method?
