Question What chip should i buy to qualify for windows 11 update

Hello,

My computer has served me well for years, i built it myself and its exactly what i need for now. At the moment i dont qualify for the windows 11 update beause my CPU is not supported.

What CPU can i get that will support my current system setup plus enable me to update to windows 11? I would like to just plug and play the CPU with it being either the same power as i have now or 1 level higher.

Here are my specs.

MSI Z170A Gaming M5 (MS-7977)

sadly you're going to need a new platform, 8th Gen or above(you will need to change your motherboard).

8th gen intel is minimum for win11 or 2nd gen ryzen, neither of those your mainboard supports

There isnt going to be any processor supported on that motherboard.
That said, why do you want to move to win11? Is there something win10 isnt doing for you?

Ouch!!! ok bad news but thank you so much for the quick reply and the honesty. I guess ill be shopping for a new motherboard as well.
