Hi all, I was wonder what chipset the Dell Dimension 4500 uses and if it would be possible to take the CPU from that computer and put it in another motherboard.

Yes, you can use that cpu in another motherboard. I would suggest an 865 chipset, such as the abit is7, if the cpu is a northwood with 512 cache. If it's an older willamette cpu (256 cache), you might want to find a used Intel 845 chipset board to save money, since willamette's don't overclock very well. You can get your cpu and memory specs using a free download named cpuid.
