What clock speed could I get out of my FX-8350 with my Motherboard?

I'm new to overclocking and don't not have the best motherboard for overclocking (an ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0). I know I can't get a big boost (like 5GHz) but could I maybe get a smaller OC like 4.5GHz?

what is your cooler? generally with those chips heat becomes an issue. that is not a very good overclocking board, but if you can keep the CPU cool, you should make that or get very close.

are you suspecting it will be unable to supply the current needed? I suppose that is an issue with lower power VRMs and power delivery systems.

Its just ultimately low quality with a 4 phase setup (essentially a pro 3 with heatsinks) .

Many people have had issues running 8350s at stock on it let alone oc.

If I had that system running & it was stable with an 8350 I'd personally be considering myself lucky & leaving bios settings alone.

An 8 core at 4.5ghz isnt by any means a 'small overclock' , on that board it'll need 1.45v+ & those vrm's won't handle it without overheating.
