Here is my current build.
R9 270 2GB
A88x-G45 motherboard A8-6600k APU with Intel HD graphics 3.6 GHz
8GB Crucial RAM
Windows 7 64 bit
400w Be Quiet PSU

I'm looking to upgrade. Probably my GPU first, then maybe CPU later this year. I will also be getting a SSD. However I also need a better PSU to power new components. I am looking at a 380/390 or 390x. Although I'm thinking it may be better to wait till Polaris so AMD reduces prices of their graphics cards. I need to know which components will be compatible with my other ones though and what would be best to get. probably £300-400 max for PSU and GPU (also preferably the SSD included)

Your case looks like it can accept an ATX PSU. You should look through this article and this PSU tier list to gauge a reliable and robust unit for your system. I'd suggest going for an XFX 650W XTR unit.

Based off of this GPU hierarchy chart, you'd need to look at GPU's at least three tiers higher to notice any difference in your upgrades so you should be looking at something like a GTX980 or equivalent but the truth would be that no matter how high of an APU you move to on the FM2+ platform, you're going to see a CPU bottleneck.

Suggestions.

I'd suggest waiting until Polaris launches this year and then decide if you'd like to upgrade your GPU or move to a completely new platform...

I'd suggest waiting until Polaris launches this year and then decide if you'd like to upgrade your GPU or move to a completely new platform. The APU was designed for platforms that could rely on a powerful iGPU off the CPU. The CPU wasn't designed to handle high end GPU's so in itself the platform is being made to do what it shouldn't. I wouldn't want to suggest going for an Intel build but you'd also need to realize that the APU will be half wasted potential when you consider it isn't that powerful when compared to an i5(1st + 2nd gen).

Yeah it looks like there's lots of incompatabilities so I have to pretty much upgrade my entire pc over time. I'm getting most things now and a 1070 later if I can afford it.
