First off this isn't a boo-hoo posting and I'm not really crying about anything. (Some people tend to be insensitive.) I just want users opinions on which computer I should sell that possibly isn't fitting my uses/ needs.
Uses: Gaming, writing, video and audio editing/creation, internet browsing. Just about everything you could do on a computer I guess. lol.
Needs: Something powerful enough to play most games at 1080p and with most details as high as they will go. (Can turn down AA, AF, and all those extra fancy stuff.) Something that can also code/recode, videos at 1080p. (Audio doesn't really require super high end stuff, at least compared to video stuff.) I would like to keep 2 computers, one for backup or portability (depending on which 2 I keep).
Games I play: Command and Conquer (All of them) Sims 2 and 3, Minecraft, Terraria, Starbound, Xcom, Diablo III w/ expansion, Torchlight 1 and 2, Saint's Row 3 and 4, Simcity 2013, 3 and 4, Borderlands 1 and 2, Bioshock (all), Tropico 4, Marvel Heroes, Just Cause 2 and will a lot of different ones I guess.
Here is the computers and their specs.
1.) Custom built desktop (by me)
AMD FX-6300 Six-Core 3.5GHz
Evo 212 cpu cooler
8GB DDR3 (Can upgrade to 32GB in the future)
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3+, AMD 990X, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0, ATX, AMD Motherboard
Gigabyte R9 270 OC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics card
WD Blue 1TB HDD
Seagate Barracudda 3TB HDD
24" 1080p Samsung Display
DVD Burner drive
Cased in a NZXT Phantom 410 Mid-Tower (Red)

Intel i7 4700MQ Quad-core with Hyper threading 2.4GHZ- Turbo to 3.4GHZ
16GB DDR3 Ram
Intel HD 4600 Graphics
AMD Radeon HD 8970M 4GB GDDR5 Graphics
Crucial M500 480GB mSATA SSD (OS and such)
HGST Travelstar 1TB 7,200RPM HDD
Seagate 750GB 7,200RPM HDD
17.3" 1080p Display
Blu-ray player, DVD Burner Drive
3.) My "Portable laptop" (Lenovo Y510P)
Intel i7 4700MQ Quad-core with Hyper threading 2.4GHZ- Turbo to 3.4GHZ
16GB DDR3 Ram
2x Nvidia GT 755M 2GB GDDR5 gpu in SLI
980GB Crucial M500 SSD (I also kept the 1TB HDD which I will put back into this laptop should I sell it.)
15.6" 1080p Display
They all run pretty good, of course the SSD's help on the laptops. All are running a copy of Windows 7 x64. But the Lenovo will be restored with Windows 8.1 if it's sold.
I know they all have pros and cons. Which I will list the ones I can think of.
Desktop Pros and cons
Pros- Upgradeable, easy to replace components should one fail, cheaper to replace components, tend to be more reliable as it runs cooler, more reliable, larger display tied to it.
Cons- Large and bulky, takes up a lot of space on a desk, not easy to carry around (I guess those would go with large and bulky, but had to say.)
Sager Laptop (17" one)
Pros- Upgreadable model (I bought it for this reason), easier to replace components in compared to other laptops, runs cooler than most laptops due to the dual cooling system, portable, doesn't take as much space up on a desk as a desktop would.
Cons- It does get hotter than a desktop (I know it's a laptop and they tend to do so), personally I worry about reliability, AMD Enduro tech still has a way to go compared to Nvidia's, Keyboard isn't as nice to type on compared to a mechanical. (I guess I could keep my good keyboard and use it for long typing sessions but that would create another con and that would be that I'm starting to use up more desk space.)
Lenovo Y510p (15" "More portable laptop")
Pros- The most portable of my machines and still has power under the hood, takes the least amount of space and is the lightest, keyboard is nice to type on easy to carry around everywhere I go.
Cons- Gets the hottest out of the 3 machines which in turn makes me worry about reliability and life, no optical drive. if I swap out the second GPU I have a hole in the side since I don't have a filler panel or anything, it is the most locked down of the machines for upgrades (only ram and hdd can be upgraded.)
I travel between about 3 different places, but just about all the machines get equal use. I'm just trying to down size to help make my data a little more accessible and easier to copy around as well as free up a little space. Any space freed is really a bonus.
If I got rid of:
Desktop
I would consider keeping the 3TB HDD as it won't add much to value and I'd rather keep all my data. I would also consider: not selling the monitor or my high end mouse and keyboard and only give away basic components really. (I want to keep the keyboard and mouse if at all possible.)
Sager Laptop
It may be the most customized as I have a 128GB Crucial M500 mSATA I could swap out or even add in (the laptop supports 2x mSATA and 2x 2.5" drives, I also have a 750GB 5,400RPM HDD sitting that the 1TB replaced. So it becomes the most customized and the most complex offering.
Lenovo Laptop
Depends on the price offered, I could keep the 980GB SSD in it or swap out and include the 1TB HDD that it came with. (I wouldn't mind swapping in the 980GB SSD into the desktop)
I know I have tossed around a lot of ideas and have written a lot. I just wanted to see what people would do if they where in my shoes.
Note: I bought and built the desktop, bought the Sager laptop, and the Lenovo was just given to me by a family member as a gift (payment for work I did for them) I wasn't going to turn down a decent computer and if it helped them pay the bill I was gonna take it specially when they considered any 'interest' incurred. hehe. (Honestly I would have done the work for free it's family, but they wouldn't shut up about paying me, then discovered they couldn't pay the bill, when I still declined they wouldn't shutup so I was kind of forced. And they won't take it back either. Oh well.
All these computers have gotten plenty of love and use from me, but I just got too much electronics now and it's time for Summer cleaning.
Hopefully this long post didn't put anyone off and hope to get some ideas on value and what other's would do. Any and all help is appreciated.
