What connection do I need for Ultra Wide HD?

Hi. I'd like to buy an ultra wide (2560 x 1080) monitor for my editing and gaming needs. The monitor itself would come with two 2.0 hdmi ports and a display port. My graphics card only has two 1.4 hdmi ports and dvi. Trying to research the issue, some people have claimed hdmi 1.4 does not support 21:9 aspect ratio. Is this true, and if so, how would I go about connecting it? Thank you!

1.3 will do 260x1440@60Hz, so don't see why 1.4 shouldn't, the aspect ratio shouldn't matter, just the total bandwidth required.
