What connection to choose for best video quality ?

I want to connect my notebook's display to a LED monitor.

The monitor has the following inputs available:
VGA input
DVI-D input
Display port (241B4LPY)

The notebook has the following inputs available:
HDMI input
VGA input

How can I achieve the best video quality ?
So far I found the following ways to connect:
1. VGA Male to Male cable
2. HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable

HDMI to DVI would be the best route to go as its a purely digital signal.
