What cooling should I apply to my FX8350?

Hi everyone,
im about to get my FX8350 soon on a Asus Sabertooth 990FX motherboard.
The case im getting is Cosmos SE from Coolermaster and I've heard that people had problems with this case, on terms of fans/radiator placement. I was considering buying the 212 EVO cooler since I've seen good reviews online, and it has no extra fans that I need to place around my case.
Is that any good? Will it keep my cpu cool? Or should I go with Seidon 120v v2? If I get a Seidon 120v where do I place the radiator to make sure that I get low temps?
Thanks alot and excuse my english, and my lack of knowledge it's my first time building.

uh well I don't see it in my mind;

If you zoom in a bit to this image you can see they have a 240 screwed in the top; with a 120mm fan at the rear exhaust.

You should put some extra fan to huff on the vrm & northbridge heatsink; one each; and one to huff on the ram. I've stuck a backplate cooler on mine with thermal glue; for the good it does, not much, just a bit.

Looks fine from the image I found on google. Ish.
Why are people obsessed with the 212 evo? The themis evo got better reviews when I googled it.

The chassis; why buy one that you know has problems? Go search for something that solves your issue; Usually in these cooling cases the psu is moved to the floor of the chassis and the cooler goes up to where the psu used to be; the radiator and fan sticks in there.

You could go for a case with top vents; but with a 240mm rad or even a 120 clearance of the ram clips might be an issue; I myself opted for a water cooling loop built entirely from scratch; and the radiator is situated outside the chassis altogether; if you have got a pump and some tubing your rad could hang on the wall next to your pc if you wanted it to. You need a powerful expensive pump though; cheap won't cut it at all.

Assuming that you are aiming for the best overclock you can get; well I've heard twitter that you want 1 240 rad for each link in your loop; 1 for the cpu and 1 for each gpu; plus you might also want a reservoir

all of which is a tidy sum.

In 4 months AMD is going to release zen on AM4; why don't you simply save your money, get the new probably smaller die with lower wattage and forget about overclocking?

If you spend you know basic on a basic rad. etc. you will soon become frustrated when it enters your mind to start tweaking the settings; and believe me it will.

Thus if you are fully determined to embark on the course; you should plan for maximum cooling; and read the wc sticky on this forum for all the details you need.

Personally I would prefer to wait for the am4 kit; it's not that far away. Because the money you spend on overclocking your am3 stuff; would buy half of it again likely.

Watch it! Because piledriver is set to become as has been as haswell.

I believe that the 212 Evo will keep your cpu cool when it is not OC'd but if you OC, you may want to go over to the noctua dh coolers. If you want to liquid cool however, you should take the kraken x31. It has a fair price and is one of the best single fan liq coolers out there. Your case is most likely taking air from the front so you should release it out the back of the case or at the back top plate.

Hello friend.

Which type of cooler you want depends on how aggressive you intend to overclock the CPU. If you are only doing a little bit overclocking, the 212 EVO is a very good cooler.

If you plan on doing high amount of overclocking, I would suggest going with liquid cooling. The Seidon 120v is a decent liquid cooler, but I prefer the bigger double rad Corsair models (H100, H100i, H105). You should mount it on the rear of your case. Make sure it blows out (Exhaust).

The 8350 is a very hot CPU. You must take extra care when overclocking it. If you decide you to do high overclocking and use liquid cooling, you must remember that the airflow is now gone from your VRM's. If the VRM's have no airflow and get too hot, they will go up in smoke! You must use a separate fan to keep them cool. Don't think because it an ASUS board this won't happen to you, they are notorious for low quality MOSFETS.

In short - 212 Evo if you are doing light overclocking. Liquid cooling + fan on VRM's if heavy overclocking.

You suggest that I go with a double rad hydro cooler but that is a problem with this case. People have problems installing a 240mm rad at the top, because the top/front drive bay is blocking the radiator from sliding in. Thats why I am a bit worried about buying a double rad. Therefore if I remove the bay, there could be another problem with my motherboard VRM heatsink at the top blocking the 240mm rad. Do you know if I will face any problems installing the H100i with the Sabertooth 990FX considering that I remove the top/front drive bay?
Thats the reason im considering buying the 120mm rad. If I do buy the 120mm , do I install the radiator at the top of the case or at the rear?

Well cause im stuck with this option. I'm getting this case with a corsair psu and a dvd drive all together as a bundle at a really kickass price. The only problem that this case has is that you need to remove the top drive bay to slide in a 240mm rad. If I get a 120mm however there won't be any problems.

Anyway everybody, I'll probably end up getting the 212 EVO and see how it goes.
Do I need to worry about anything else? Should I put any extra fans at the rear or top of the case?
