Hello everyone, in my previous post (link: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3247450/x99-deluxe-power-supply-surge-asus-anti-surge.html) I asked about Asus Anti Surge triggering on my PC. I'm wanting to know what could've caused it (I've ruled out the PSU, an NZXT HALE 90 v2 1200w, being faulty). If there were input power fluctuations, would my psu, which is plugged directly into the wall, have adjusted to surges, etc and caused the voltage regulation to go a bit wonky triggering Anti-Surge? Thanks

Here are PC specs:

Mobo: X99 Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core i7 5960x overclocked to 4.5 ghz @ 1.3v
GPU: GTX Titan X (2015)
RAM: 16gb Corsair LPX Vengeance DDR4

PSUs have some ability to cope with power fluctuations (sometimes called brownouts), but it's very limited. While surge protectors tend to offer some safety from overvoltage (surges), most won't help at all for an undervoltage situation that can occur during a brownout and these can be dangerous or damaging to PSUs. Generally the best protection comes from a decent UPS which (usually) have high quality protections and continue to provide stable output power for a time after under unstable or no input power.

Having said all that , it sounds like this has only happened once? And you haven't noticed any other symptoms at this stage?

If you're in an area that has poor power delivery and regularly has brownouts (like you notice your lights dimming, etc), then a UPS is a very good idea. But if this was literally an isolated incident. I wouldn't worry myself. Just keep an eye on it and start investigating further if it starts to happen more often.
