My budget is 500. I want to upgrade from my i5 7400 and Msi b250. I would like to be able to run the newest games at 120 hz. I also have an AMD Rx 480 and plan on upgrading that later.

If you have sufficient cooling, this would work, Intel wise. I wouldn't recommend anything lower, than an i7 8700k/9700k, for modern titles, Intel side. The i5's suffer from frametime variance issues, that the i7's, and Ryzen 3600/3700x, don't.

Will the build with the ryzen 7 3700x be able to pull 120fps on modern titles with the rx 480?
