What CPU can i fit?

Solution
If the other motherboard I showed you is too much, and if you don't plan on going for an unlocked processor like the I5-4690k, this H97 might fit your needs better. However, it only supports Crossfire, and not SLI, but that only matter if you planned on using an SLI board anyway.

Here it is, at 65.81 Pounds exactly, https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h97pcmate

Like he said, I think you'd be much better off upgrading your Motherboard and CPU at the same time, either for Haswell or Skylake. In this kind of situation, it's better to wait until you have the money for the upgrade, compared to buying something cheap that won't last very long. Not to mention how hard it might be to find a X5492.

Well the MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition is 89,99 pounds in the UK on novatech. This would allow you to use a Haswell-Refresh CPU like the I5-4460 or the I5-4690k. As I said, if you don't have the money for both at the moment, I would strongly recommend saving up money instead of throwing more into an aging Xeon.

id get the motherboard the other user stated, its a great board and also supports sli.

a 4460 will set you back around £145.

infact theyre going brand new for £130 on ebay.
