What CPU can I put on this motherboard

This is my motherboard,

I currently have a E7300 core duo CPU in there now. It is a LGA 775 socket. According to the socket wiki says I can put the Core 2 Extreme QX9770 CPU in it.

Is this right? or is there something else in my motherboard that's going to stop it from working?

You have to look for the lastest bios for your mobo (DELL web). If you are very lucky it will support the last 775 cpus (quad core ones), but it won´t be easy.

Look for the latest bois? How do i do that? And what does that tell me?

That board doesn't support Quads, you would need the OFM586 for Quads and then I don't know if it supports the QX.

The bios is a little program which controls the motherboard. When a new cpu is in the market the mobo's manufacturer (if is a good brand) adapts that program (the bios) to the new cpu to make possible that the motherboard to support it. So, you have to search for the last bios program because that is the best way to be sure that the cpu that you want is supported and there is no surprise. Anyway, if you don´t know what a bios is, better ask to somebody to help you flashing the bios, because you can easily kill your mobo.
