I'm thinking of buying a matx mb.

I have an i7 7700k and don't need the oc capability and sli of my current z170 atx mb, i still play games i can't use with 2 cards.

Another reason is that more cases supports matx than atx and in a smaller case the case fans are closer to the cpu, gpu, should in theory cool them better than in a big case at the same rpm. For a start i could use my current define r5 case until a find a more exciting case with better airflow.

If that maske any sense.

I have a Noctua NH-D15 and as i read (in the noctua mb combatibility list) about more and more matx mb's that doesn't support such a huge cpu cooler, i need to downgrade my cpu cooler in size if i want a matx mb.

My biggest problem is that i don't want a noisy cooler, bnut i don't need a to oc my i7 7700k (atm 1.135volt).

So not to spend a furtune on a cooler, what can you recommend?

I think the cm 412s is a better chose since the price is about the same at the 212 x

Im thinking about a Asrock B250M Pro4 M.ssd (already have one), enought usb ports at the back of the i/o panel, heatsink on the mosfet.low price.

The mb wouldn't cost me anything since i could get more for my current mb that the asrock costs, the same with my noctua nh-d15 if i wanted a cryorig h7,cm 212x,412s, also a new case could have a better airlflow to get more air into my case (without loud fans) to get lower temps.

It doesn't sound like you have any need to change motherboard/case/cooler, so my recommendation would be; Don't.
Sure, fans may be closer, but have less airflow across the whole motherboard............. you're also sacraficing one of the best air coolers out there.

If you do go that route though, something like a Cryorig H7 or CM 212 Evo would be solid additions for no major OC.......... but they're fairly tall, which may limit some case options.
