What CPU Cooler to buy for i7?

I've purchased a Corsair H60 and it does not cool my CPU efficiently, my temperatures reached 82 degrees under full load. Reapplied the thermal compound, maximum is 75 degrees which is still far too hot. Going to return this and get my money back.

Therefore what CPU cooler would you recommend? £80 budget. I would like silence and efficient cooling. My case is a Fractal Node 804.

NH-D14. Or 15. These air coolers out perform the H series coolers. What CPU do you have? Also make sure it is not on too tight.

CPU will not change if it can fit your case. The be quiet will work fine also.

Very happy with my NH-D14. Here ambient is about 82F/27C. My CPU idles around 38C, and using HT and mprime to top off all 4 cores with 2 threads each, barely gets one of the cores at a time to touch on 72-75C, briefly. Oh, and it's quiet 🙂

I have to stress that you need good TIM, in the correct amount and distribution, and the sink itself properly applied to cool your CPU.

Quick comment, 75 degrees on full load is nowhere near hot.
