What CPU/GPU for 60+ FPS ultrawide gaming?

I am planning on getting an ultrawide monitor for my next build. It will probably be an LG, and it will likely be 60-70Hz, and 1440p. What components should I have to get to have 60 FPS (preferably 80+ FPS) gaming on such a PC. I don't want to exceed $1000 for the CPU and GPU, but I don't know if that's a ridiculous claim or not.

At 1440p, a 390x or a 980 GTX should be fine. A 1070 GTX is a better choice if you are looking at 80FPS.

+redgarl Ultrawide is 33% more demanding than standard 1440p. GTX 1070 is perfect for maxing out games at standard 1440p at 60 FPS. For maxing out games at ultrawide 1440p at more than 60 FPS, he needs GTX 1080/ RX 480 CrossFire.

390x won't get close. My oc'd 390 matches or beats a stock 390x and mine can just about do 1080p ultrawide (similar pixels to 1440p standard)

A 1070 best option here
