Hi guys,

I have old Pentium D930 with Intel mobo D955XBK, 2G of OCZ RAM @ 667MHz, X275GTX OC, Raptor HD, and a 700W PSU - To play Battlefield BC2 game... Do you think upgrading CPU, mobo and RAM would make huge difference? Right now I can play the game with all settings set to low at 780x640 @85 MHz settings and its still choppy at times. Do you think upgrading to i5 750, P55 Evo/SuperComputer mobo + some decent RAM would make huge improvement in FPS and game play overall?

I use Samsung SyncMaster 19 inch CRT Flat screen, with all the latest drivers/firmware for all components. OS is Win XP MC. Do you think if I update my OS to W7 Pro w/o updating CPU, mobo and ram would make difference (haha I know silly question, but wanted to ask experts). or if I update CPU, mobo and RAM and keep XP would be okay? I don't want to spend too much on PC again But want a decent setup so it'll last at least 2 years. Current setup lasted me 4 years, I only upgraded my video and PSU a few month back.

My current specs:
D930
D955XBK
2G of OCZ RAM @ 667 MHz
WD Raptor (1) + Caviar (2)
X-Fi Xtreme Audio
700W PSU
N275 GTX Twin Frozr OC
Plextor DVD (don't remember which one, but its decent)
Game is on steam though.

Thank you guys!

An I5 would be like night and day to what you got. Do you have a budget so we can put something together for you. Plus if your on a tight budget an AMD phenom II x4 system will give you tons of performance for alot cheaper.

that pentium d930 is *** for bad company 2. Upping to a quad will make a world of propro-formance difference

If you are on a budget i would suggest a nice AMD Phenom II X4 955, a 2x2GB DDR3, and a 780-785G mobo
If not a i5-750, some P55 mobo and 2x2GB DDR3 will also do a great job
First post your budget:)

If you put in a Win7, it will make a difference at multitasking (Win7 is especially optimized for multi core CPU), but not sure if it makes a big difference at the games, though you will get DX10😀

edit- i see you got the GTX275 twin-frozr edition. You are also holding back much of your GPU power. Hurry, post your budget so we can help you unleash that beast!

Yeah, you are holding back your GTX275 by quite a bit. Upgrade asap! If intel go for i5 750, if amd go for the phenom ii 955 (with an am3 only board). Both cpus will run your gpu to its max and both perform accordingly to their price.

Thanks guys,

I am looking into a bundle deal at tigerdirect or newegg right now. Basically I am going to get i5 750 + ASUS P55 mobo (Evo? or SuperComputer? Which one is better if I'd want to SLI my 275GTX in the future) and some good but not too expensive RAM. Budget is always tight for PC. Want performance for a dollar 😉

I was thinking of getting i7 920 + x58 mobo, but I think its going to be too much 😉 What do you think guys? Also what mobo and RAM brands/models would you recommend?

Thank you for your help guys!

Update: I actually updated video drivers with driver sweeper and its running okay on 1024x768 @85 MHz with all settings set to low. Still not good enough. I want good frames with at least medium settings at 1280x1024 @ 85 MHz. Which setup will handle this guys?
