What CPU should I get?

Hey there. I want to make a decent pc for gaming and video editing. I'll put in 16 gigs of ram and i've got a gtx 760 which i'm planning to sli in the future. I'm not sure which cpu to pick.

I've read about the i5-4670k which seems to be great for gaming but how will it perform on video editing? Also what's the difference between i5-4670k and i5-3570k? They're same price but which is better?

I don't really know about AMD, are there any (possibly cheaper) processors that will perform equally or not significantly less than the i5?

Please advise me on this.

an i5 4670k is better than i5 3570k, just the tdp is slightly higher. nothing to worry about.
for AMD, try searching FX-8350. Im pretty sure its at least on i5 level

If you wanna save money go for the Amd fx-8350 because it has the same performance as mid range i5's and overclocks nicely. If you want Intel go with the i5-4670k, but if you want fast video editing try and invest in an i7 if possible.
The only reason why you would want to get an i7 is if you do a lot of heavy video editing on top of gaming. If its just gaming then get an i5 or 8350.

^^ if your going to get the AMD fx-8350 make sure you don't get the heatsink with it. The heatsink is terrible, It makes a terrible noise!. However the AMD does just fine, I switched over from a Inter i7 processor and I hardly see the difference.

Yes I have been considering an i7 but I don't really know how much it's going to benefit me percentagewise. If it's substantial I might invest another 100 there. I assume i7-4770k is better than i7-3770k? What about the socket 2011 i7-4820K by the way? It's the same price.

The difference in price between the fx-8350 and i5-4670k is not that big (10-15%) so i'm not sure about that. I will mainly use the pc for gaming but i'd like it to be reasonable at video editing as well.

Ok so if you want to game and do video editing, the 8350 will benefit you more than the 4670k overall because it has twice as many cores. However, with the 4770k and 4820k using Hyper Threading, they both easily surpass the 8350. The best would be the 4820k, however, motherboards for that socket are far more expensive.

Well actually the 8350 really only has 4 cores and 4 threads that you can count as 8 cores, but any i7 will beat an 8350 no doubt.

the FX 8320/8350 are both great, but the 8350's are the "golden" chips out of the 8320 so OC'ing the 8320 will get you to the 8350 but doing the same for the 8350 will give performance boosts even more so. This is why I chose the 8350, I don't regret it. Also the I5-3570k and I5-4670k have almost the exact performance but onboard graphics are better on the 4670k which is almost pointless if you're buying a $230+ CPU since a cheaper CPU/GPU combo can outperform them every day of the weak as far as gaming goes. I'd go with the 8350 if it were me but it's your decision at the end of the day, and they were $170 at one time... where they ruled the day compared to the I5-4670k which I haven't seen drop below $225... and in gaming that translations is basically $55 for 1-3FPS boost/not worth it.

Well from what I've seen I can push my 8350 quite a bit further than my friends 8320... but that could be due to chips/board/OC potential/etc.. etc... that's just my personal experience with it. I though about buying an 8320 when they went on sale to $135 that was the best deal on a CPU I have "EVER" seen.
