what cpu should I get?

Should I get a 2 year old fx 4300 or 6300. Or the Intel I3 4150? I'll be playing games a lot. And games from minecraft to battlefield. And this a 500$ build so I want as much performance as I can get. But I also want a upgrade path. So? Thanks in advance

Get the 6300 it'll help in battlefield over the i3

The highest you could go with a FX 6300 is a FX 8350. If you want more of an upgrade path you could go with the i3 and get a Z97 or H97 motherboard.

You might want to get a low-end Core i5 if you have the money, or a high-end i3, because
1, They have 22nm architecture
2, You can upgrade to the i5-4690K or the i7-4790K later
3, Come on, it's Intel!

i agree, ive always had amd, but amd is dead now. especially am3+
go with intel with a good top end i3 and upgrade in the future
