parts:
GPU: gtx 960 (4gb)
CPU: athlon 860k (3.7ghz)
RAM: 8GB 1600mhz

I recently upgraded my GPU from a crappy gts 250 from an old PC to a very good 960. I am very happy with my GPU but there is a bottleneck. I am planning to get a new CPU/mobo as I want to go with an intel build this time. I did not want to upgrade to a fx 6300 for example as I would not see a massive difference in the price. I'm trying to get something affordable and that will also get rid of most of my bottleneck. however, I do not know what to get. the price range of my CPU/mobo in total would be around £140/180$. (i don't really care about which mobo I get so I'm essentially going to get the cheapest one I can find)

You need to up your budget a bit, or else the upgrade would be unworthy(pure dual cores are no longer viable):

Yes, you need RAM aswell.

However, while not recommended, if your budget is fixed, you could get a DDR3 MB. Again, i recommend against this, but it'll work.
