Hi, so my brother only watches movie and does matlab(only for college) and i don't think they do any kind of advanced programming etc

i already decided on other specs and i'm really tight on budget, i mean i can pay more if it's necessary but i rather save!

It will just have an 500gb~ hdd no ssd
4GB ram
~15.6" not 1080p for now!(maybe i will change my mind when i check out the other models!

Solution
Here's what MathWorks has to say about a CPU to use, "Any Intel or AMD x86 processor supporting SSE2 instruction set" note that SSE2 was introduced over 10 years ago and is pretty much supported by every CPU (even most SOC's). Pretty much, if the CPU will support 2+ GB of ram, it'll have SSE2 support - it's the rare chip anymore that doesn't.
Getting a dedicated graphics in there (very nice performance touch) would probably make it too expensive but you might check out some "off-lease" or refurbished models to see if you can find a good deal

He won't do much with matlab and its only for college! i will see how much they cost! if its not much than i'll buy one :)

so right now i think an i3 and maybe a dedicated is enough! i wanted to get i5 but i realized it won't last much! specially that he's taking it outside, he takes a bad care of he's stuff :| it won't last a year 😀

thanks! but i can't trust refurbished stuff in here :| i rather buy a new one :)
