Question What cpu to get (broken cpu) - Blue screens

Hello boys and girls,

So it seems like my cpu has died, as putting it above 2,95ghz it will blue screen in windows. It has always been running on 4ghz without a problem.

So now my question is get another x5670 and hope it hits 4ghz again or buy myself a x5690.

Current build:

Asus rampage iii extreme
12gb corsair 1600mhz
gtx 980

and the cpu temp? make and model of the psu?
could be motherboard issue too

That motherboard doesn't officially support that CPU but try resetting your Bios in case it has stored info from a prior CPU.

@rdg My idle cpu temp is ~25 degrees as am running a noctua NH-D14 and i have a bequite 730w (not entirely sure what exact model)

@popatim this cpu has been running for atleast 2 years in this mobo without an issue, it only recently started happening (this pc only gets used when i have school vacations)
