Hello i am thinking of upgrading my CPU for gamming and i cant decide between the
AMD FX-6300 6 core 3.5ghz at $139 or the
AMD FX-8320 8 core 3.5 ghz at $152 both need 95W
should i spend a bit more for the FX 8320 or just get the FX 6300?
I'd go with the 8320 for not much more. They're basically identical in terms of single core performance, with benchmarks hedging very slightly to the 6300 shockingly. If you're using applications that make use of multiple core/threads, then the 8-core FX is the route to go. The 8320 overclocks a bit better, for what it is. It's the same processor as the 8350/8370 only not binned as high. It's overclock potential is the same as the aforementioned, making it the only choice for people that like to overclock.
The FX 8320, but why so expensive? you should be able to have an FX 8320 for 120$ and the FX 6300 for 80-100$. I saw the FX 8320 on sale on newegg for like 79.99 last week. I got my FX 8320 from MicroCenter for 99.99.
