What determines how fast a smartphone does processes? For example, the speed of the touch screen response and how fast it will open applications? Is it determine by the CPU or the amount of RAM? Thank you.

Solution
It is highly determined by CPU and then RAM. CPU enables phone to carry out operations fast such as opening apps and doing multitasking. RAM would enable you to run multiple apps at a time. I.e. Facebook, twitter, whats app etc. These remain in RAM memory, so if you run out of it, next app you will open will take time because system have to close any in memory app and then open other one.
Speed doesn't depends highly on storage memory. Phone might get slower if it became filled else all would be ok.
Touch sensitivity depends on hardware. Some screens have feather touch and some are hard. If you want fast response, screen should have feather touch hardware and a good processor. CPU/RAM/ROM doesn't effect touch sensitivity. Screen should...
