I have a Intel i5 laptop and I wanted to increase the CPU performance so i went to Run > msconfig > boot > advanced options and increased the number of processors from 1 to 4 and now my computer is messed up it's so infuriatingly slow to the point that the arrow gets stuck and icons won't even load.

I reset it back to 1 and nothing changed, PC is still unusable in this state.

How can I fix it? And thank you in advance.

Solution
The default use is ALL processors. When it is greyed out and you see a "1", that is the default condition of ALL.
Changing from the default can only lower performance.

Uncheck that box and reboot.
