Hello, i bought a new pc, but kept my old HDD, because i had to decide between more RAM or new HDD, so i went for RAM, since i could just take the 500GB HDD from my old pc.
I saved some money and ordered an new SSHD, its 1TB. So far i've been getting along with only 500GB, so i know that 1TB is going to be plenty for me, so what do i do with the old HDD? Its in working condition, but it makes all the cracking sounds, like and old HDD would. Theres no point in selling it, but also, theres kinda no point of keeping it. What should i do with it?

Solution
Don't do anything with it. Just keep it with in the box you have all your spare parts/cables in. You never know when you'll meet a friend or relative that has an aging 60-100GB drive in their system and in need of an upgrade.

Yes, i understand that, but i will never get my 1 TB SSHD full. on my pc i only have games. With GTA V, BF1 and NBA 2k17 wich is almost 70GB i have used only like 470-480GB. So i will never need those extra 500GB.

Nice idea, but i never needed any backups. In this pc i dont have anything except games, no personal photos or any other files.

Check smart status.. if Drive reports good - then I agree with Smorizio.. use for Backups.
Look at your current drive and imaging it just "died".. how bad would that be? EVERYTHING gone?
Then decide what would be most painful for you lose in that scenario.. and then backup.
For me - I have family photos which could never be replaced.. so I backup, every week, to a NAS.. which has mirrored disks (Raid 1)
with 2 generations.. and then I occasionally back up to cloud (in case the whole house burns down).. that's how important it is (to me)
You may have other priorities (e.g. a very precious save game slot? etc ) but you should consider the saying "you should never gamble anything you cannot afford to lose".. and HDD/SSD's are a gamble, they fail rarely - but if they do - it can be complete and "out of the blue".
Cheers

This was obviously a joke, since he thinks i don't understand HDD's and will hop into youtube to get my 600$ in gold. what i meant is that if i do format the HDD and keep it just as an extra 500GB, it will always stay there empty. because i will never make my 1TB SSHD full. so im just looking for alternative ways to use the HDD.

Really no other use rather than backups? It does work, but i don't have anything i need to backup.

Well...data accumulates to fill the available drive space.
If you don't have a use for it...then give it to someone else.

But I don't want to see you back here with a busted system and not wanting to do a full reinstall. :kaola:
