What do drivers do?

So i just built a new pc and ppl everywhere are telling me to install the latest drivers. What does that mean? Where to i install them? What components do i download them for: gpu, cpu, mobo etc.? Thanks

Drivers are software windows uses to talk to hardware , like the chips on your motherboard , your raphics card etc .

If you have built the computer , and installed windows then the next thing to do is run the disk that came with the motherboard

after that head to either AMD or Nvidia for the latest drivers for your graphics card
